(1) I don't think there's much basis for any sharp distinction. I think both would be focused on balanced and inspiring choices to balance the long string of right wing nominees that have populated the court.
(2) I do expect him to nominate people on the far right. One should not underestimate just how right wing McCain is. And unlike other more "political" Republicans, he will not shy from nominating people to overturn Roe.
(3) The Court will be very far to the right for a long time now. That makes it all the more critical to find extremely intelligent and able justices to balance that bias.
